I actually wrote about this lovely couple, Michael and Nicole, a few weeks ago when we met and reviewed the details for their wedding.  I was happy that I was able to help them with a few suggestions and also to make an edit for their introductions.
So I arrived at The Grand Marquis way early on February 24th.  It was my first wedding of the year and I figured I might as well get set up and sound check and relax (yes even 24 years in the business I still get some butterflies.)  I was working with a brand new addition to the Elite staff,  Nicole Reta who is coming aboard as a music mixer and singer. Nicole has a beautiful singing voice.  More on her in a bit.
The Bridal Party introductions went off smoothly.  Great energy in the room and when we hit the edit of the Queen song Don’t Stop Me Now that I had made — and the doors opened I could see the happiness in Michael and Nicole’s faces.  That’s what it’s all about for me as a DJ and MC.  Taking my client’s visions and making them a reality.  Nicole and Michael are big classic rock fans so it was no surprise their first dance was a Beatles song (“Here There and Everywhere.”)
The dance floor was full the whole night.  We provided a good mix of new and old music as well as some of Michael’s salsas requests.  “Sexy and I Know It” continues to be a crowd favorite.
As for our newest singer, Nicole Reta sang two songs.  Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You” and Celine Dion’s “Power of Love.”  She received a lot of applause after each one and  I overheard a few guests asking her why she wasn’t on American Idol.  Another Elite “Star” is born.
Joe Church was shooting the wedding for The Pro’s.  Joe is one of those great photographers I’ve worked with for so many years.  It was great to see him and he was generous enough to share a few images with me.
We began the night with the Beatles and we ended with Clapton.  Nicole and Michael has asked for “Bell Bottom Blues” to end the party.  I was watching closely and when Clapton sings: “If I could choose a place to die it would right here in your arms” Nicole sang that line right to Michael.  That’s what weddings are all about.  The whole “Till death do us part” thing.  That’s the goal anyway.  So here’s wishing Nicole and Michael a lifetime of happiness and great memories.
