A number of years ago Ryan was searching for a part-time job. He already had his full-time employment set (he’s an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher) but he was saving for his wedding and wanted to find something to fill his weekends. He found two ads that intrigued him. One was for the music mixing position here at Elite, the other was to dress up as Batman for kids parties. Although he’s happy he chose Elite, he sometimes wonders how life as the caped crusader would have panned out.
We too are happy he chose Elite.
We’ve always had an affinity towards hiring teachers. Their schedules mesh well with ours and despite the important work they do educating the next generation they are generally underpaid and often look for part-time work. Plus teachers are usually comfortable public speaking – so while explaining why that The Battle of Stalingrad was the turning point of World War II and teaching the Cupid Shuffle are quite different, they require similar talents.
In hindsight, choosing DJing was a no-brainer for Ryan. As he tells us, “I really love music. . .I enjoy concerts and always thought of how fun it must be to have a crowd and play music that they could sing and dance to, keeping people entertained and happy.” Ryan’s also a people person. “I am always interested in what type of taste a person has in music and why… getting a chance to entertain a crowd and spreading fun amongst friends and family is so rewarding.”
Ryan’s own wedding in October of 2013 taught him a lot. “The planning can be stressful at times; simply because brides and grooms want that party to be the best it can be for themselves and their friends and family. The responsibility of providing an exciting celebration is what makes DJing fun and enjoyable.”
Besides teaching and DJing Ryan coaches baseball and cross country plus he’s involved in a number of committees at school for anti-bullying and promoting positive behavior. In his free-time he enjoys concerts and sporting events as he tells us: “I’m a big fan of Hockey (Devils) Football (Giants) and Baseball (Yankees)”
Since the day he chose Elite over being Batman he’s enjoyed working here. He tells us “The entire Elite staff has always been great role models of how to make a great party. I think that’s what really made me interested in MCing and helping people celebrate.”
V-Logs are quick event recaps done in a montage format so you won’t hear much real audio but you’ll get a fast paced and fun overview of each party.
