I had the pleasure of DJing and MCing for an awesome couple  this past weekend: Bob and Katie.  Some brides and grooms are superstitious but clearly not Bob and Katie since they chose Friday, October 13th for their wedding date.

Bob and Katie held their reception at The Mill at Lakeside Manor which has always been a favorite of mine but now that they are under new ownership I love working there even more.  Beau who runs the place and Maitre d’s the weddings is so awesome to work with.  He runs a tight ship but is also flexible enough  to let the night flow naturally and organically.  That (in my humble opinion) is the sign of a great Maitre d.

Bob and Katie had upgraded their package to include uplighting and intelligent lighting with a gobo (their name in lights!)  Here are a few shots from before the ballroom was opened.

After a phenomenal cocktail hour all the guests moved upstairs and we introduced the bridal party with a different song for each couple.  More and more we are seeing this and especially when the bridal party is outgoing and fun I think it’s awesome.  A great way to personalize things and let everyone’s light shine!

And when it came time to introduce Bob and Katie I used the Michael Jackson song “Hollywood Tonight” which was perfect because Bob’s last name is Hollywood.  With a quick edit Bob and Katie walked in to the chorus: “she’s going Hollywood, she’s going Hollywood tonight.”  They then dance their first dance as husband and wife to Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know”

After that it was party time and we did our best to keep the dance floor packed all night!

I had the pleasure of working with Rene and her team from J&R Guarino Photography.  I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on their Facebook page to see when they publish pictures from the night

Congratulations Bob and Katie!
