Saturday night, November 19th I had the pleasure of DJing and MCing for Jaime and Ruben. They were such a cool and laid back couple. They left a lot of the programming of the wedding up to me. They gave me a few requests (some classic rock and country) but empowered me to throw a great party and I did the very best I could.
One of the most memorable parts of the evening for me was Jaime’s dance with her father Jim. Jim had reached out to me prior to the wedding and asked me to make a mash-up for his dance with his daughter. I blended two songs together, The Shires’ “Daddy’s Little Girl” and Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You” and the moment worked out great. By the way a huge thanks to Jim for turning me on to The Shires song. I hadn’t heard it before and I love it! I’ll definitely be recommending it to brides in the future as a great option for dancing with their dads. Also Ruben planned a little surprise for Jaime. He had us bring an illuminated monogram for their dance floor. I was able to see Jaime’s face during their first dance when she noticed it and she looked very happy. Nice job Ruben!
Jaime and Ruben’s wedding was at the Bernards Inn in Bernardsville. I don’t get up there very often but it is a beautiful facility. Felix and the rest of the staff there were very accommodating. I also got to work with a wonderful photographer named Stacy. (BTW the pictures in this blog are not hers, they were taken on my iPhone – she took way better shots!) Stacy told me she was from Indianapolis and I asked her if she knew my friend Jim Cerone (The Perfect Host) and she raved about him. I had to call Jim to share the story because it truly is a small world.
Jaime was very nice to offer me a review on Wedding Wire. I’ll add that below this blog. My thanks to Jaime and Ruben for having me as their MC and DJ. It was truly an honor and privilege and I wish them all the best!
