As a Wedding DJ in Monmouth County it’s not that rare to venture out of our area and perform at weddings around the state. But it is rare to have a Friday night wedding and a Saturday night wedding at the same facility, especially one where Elite isn’t recommended and is about 40 minutes from our offices.
Such was the case for me recently as I got to MC and DJ for two couples at the Westwood in Garwood.
Friday night I had the pleasure of working for Megan and Paul. Megan was a meticulous planner and as her Maid of Honor mentioned in her toast she should be commended for planning every details of a flawless day. As you’d expect with a bride so thorough, I had a pretty extensive playlist. I was able to get to every song on Megan’s “must play” list and most of the songs on her “play if possible” list. This included some 90s dance music that I haven’t played in a long time like “More Than Life” by Jana and two Deborah Cox tracks that used to be in my heavy rotation. I recorded the dance set in the last hour of their reception and uploaded it to my Sound Cloud page. You can hear it by clicking here.
Megan and Paul also reserved our video company, Elite Films, to shoot their wedding. Tom Monaco was working the camera and as I’ve mentioned before, Tommy’s presence at my weddings always keeps me on my toes since he is such a great mixer, I want to avoid any train wrecks when he’s around (it’s a DJ thing). I’m happy to say I was able to do that. They’d also added one of our great photo booths which had a line by it all night long. Megan and Paul had hired Peter Borghard of Brax Pix Photography to shoot their stills. He was a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately he didn’t send me any images to include in this blog.
After their honeymoon, Megan was very nice to offer me this WeddingWire review:
Saturday night I was back at The Westwood rocking and rolling with Jessica and Mike. This was a very laid back couple and though they picked out some music they left a lot of the programming up to me. We provided music for their ceremony, cocktail hour and reception plus a photo booth for their guests. It was a fun night and I got a lot of compliments from their guests.
Megan and Paul had reserved Jamie Bodo to shoot their pictures. Ironically, Jamie had worked with Dominic the night before so I hope she wasn’t sick of Elite by the end of her weekend. Jamie was very generous to share some of her beautiful images with me that are included in this blog. You can see even more shots that she got of Jessica and Mike’s reception by clicking here.
I want to wish both Megan and Paul and Jessica and Mike all the luck in the world and say THANKS for having me DJ your wedding.
