Nicole Cocco

Some people are just born to be on stage.  Nicole Cocco is certainly one of those people.

In fact, it’s hard for Nicole to narrow down exactly when she started to perform.  Is it when she was 3 years old, donning her purple sequin dress up gown, singing and dancing to Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” album over and over?  Or when she joined the school choir in 3rd grade, auditioning for and landing the only solo?  Or maybe it’s two years later, at the tender age of 10, when she started taking professional voice lessons?

Whatever the exact moment is, Nicole Cocco is a natural performer who loves the spotlight and bringing joy to others with her beautiful voice.  “The best part about being a singer,” she tells us, “is the joy it enables you to bring to others.  . . . knowing that what you do helps people forget about their problems just for the duration of a 3 minute song, makes it all worth it.”  She also adds, “My favorite type of party to do is most definitely a wedding. After having been a bride myself, I understand and identify with all the anxiety associated with planning your big day.   I love being able to add that special touch to someone’s day with the music I perform for them.”

Nicole is a professionally trained theater actress (having performed in numerous local and regional musical theater productions).  She has 13 years of professional dance training and studied Vocal Performance and Musical Theater at Montclair State University before getting her BA in Communication from Rutgers.  When she’s not singing at weddings with Elite you might find her fronting one of NJ’s premier party bands, The Yazmatic’s.  She also volunteers for Tim McCloone’s Holiday Express band.   And in the rare moments when she’s out of the spotlight, Nicole loves to cook and bake.  She also a “professional gift wrapper” (who knew there was such a thing?) having started her own mobile wrapping and concierge business: Wrap Star. She is married to “the most supportive and amazing man ever, my husband, Steve.”  The couple has a 2 year old Dachshund, appropriately named, Frankie.

So how does a woman who was born to be on stage feel about all this work?  “When you do what you love for a living,” she says, “you never work a day in your life.  That is true for me every day.”
