When we first met AJ we were intrigued by many of his talents and traits. He’s clearly a good looking guy with a great speaking voice. Plus, he’s bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish fluently. And he’s had a lifelong passion for music and DJing. So pretty much from Day One we had our eyes on him to MC with Elite and now that he’s joined our ranks, we couldn’t be happier!
When we asked AJ exactly when he realized he wanted to DJ he told us, “the passion and desire to DJ for me started back in middle school around 1997. I was fascinated with early techno and house music and picked up a set of turntables when I was a freshman in high school. From there I started doing house parties and Sweet 16’s. I remember growing up and listening to all types of music. I remember listening to oldies, classic rock, 70’s & 80’s music in the car. Once I hit middle school my personal music taste became more focused towards early house and techno music. I went to see Paul Van Dyk at the Roxy in NYC before it was shut down and seeing Paul’s setup was insane. Two MacBook’s and pumping out an insane energy . . . he had the whole place going nuts. I remember saying to myself that this was something I wanted to explore further and hone my skills in.”
And hone his skills he has. As an MC AJ has great command and his enthusiasm is infectious. He loves creating moments at his events that his guests will remember forever. “I’d have to say the best part of being a DJ and doing what we do is seeing the reactions and looks on people faces when a certain song comes on. It can be almost any song that brings back a certain memory or nostalgia of growing up for someone at the party. Maybe it was a song that was playing when the groom proposed or the wedding song for the parents of the bride or groom. Being able to control that energy and delivery carries its own pressure but once you see how happy everyone is you can’t help but love this job!”
AJ has a Bachelor of Science (Finance) from Albright College and he earned his MBA in Accounting at Rutgers University. He’s a Certified Public Accountant in both New York and New Jersey. So while his day job sees him crunching numbers, his weekend work has him crushing dance floors. AJ married his beautiful wife, Jenee, in July of 2013. He’s a huge sports fan (Giants and Yankees) plus he’s played sports his entire life (soccer, lacrosse and rugby in college).
AJ is an extremely popular member of our staff and his Spanish speaking comes in handy for many clients who need a bi-lingual MC. If you’re interested in AJ to MC your event, call us today!
