Mike Walter leading the Chicken DanceMy wife Kelly has been a “Big” and matched up with a “Little” twice in her life.  She’s found the experiences very rewarding and it’s how we got involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex County Davide Fuoco has also volunteered for BBBS as well so Elite is “all in” when it comes to helping out this great charity.  Plus for the last few years we’ve volunteered to provide a DJ for their annual Holiday Party.

This year when they called with the date Corey Fox (who’s done this party a few years in a row) was already booked so I took the event myself.  I was a little leery going into it because it’s been a while since I did a “kids party.”  But I rose to the occasion and did every single audience participation song you can think of.  I was out there leading everything from The Wobble to The Chicken Dance.  We also played some games and in the middle of a dance song we stopped the action to do a mannequin challenge. All in all it was a fun afternoon.

Kelly got into the spirit of things and wore her elf costume while I threw on a gold Santa hat.

Kelly took a selfie of the two of us and it turned out to be the perfect Holiday shot.

As always The Mill in Spring Lake donated their services as well to help make this a great afternoon for all the kids in attendance.  I was proud and honored to be able to donate my time and talent to the cause.  I wish everyone involved a very happy and healthy Holidays.

If you’d like to get involved with this awesome charity you can contact them through their website (linked above) or their Facebook page.  The great thing about BBBS is they help children right here in our own communities.  You can either donate money (which every charity needs) or your time by becoming a Big and mentoring a young person.  Kelly will attest to the fact that it isn’t easy but it is very rewarding.
