Alex Cameron weighing in with his top song of the month

April showers will soon bring May flowers but April also brings new music. You can smell summer around the corner and i’ve got a few songs that’ll make you tap your foot through those long work hours. Here are my top ten songs for the month of April:

Kesha and Zedd create a beautiful sound to this track. This mellow song may be auto-tuned a tad too much but it’s good to hear Kesha making a comeback. Despite her quarrels and sexual accusations against producer Dr. Luke, this is her first song in over four years and it’ll definitely get her back on everyone’s radar. Best of luck to Kesha on her comeback.
I’m still a fan of country songs and love to contribute at least one country song to  my list.  “Think of You” was released a couple of months ago but it’s starting to get some traction in the recent months. Cassadee Pope is a super talented singer/songwriter and I think Chris Young was smart to add her to this song. This song will make you reflect on your life and past relationships.
A great follow up song to “Beautiful People”, Chris Brown and EDM producer Benny Benassi are back with a perfectly timed hit. You better be ready to blast this song all summer long. It’ll make you feel like your in “Paradise!”
I apologize in advance but I don’t know how to translate Korean. But sometimes a good melody and beat is all you need, and that’s exactly what this K-pop song delivers. “Fire” has been gliding through the iTunes charts and could possibly make its way up to being as popular as “Gangnam Style” by PSY (you heard it here first!)
Beyonce is always on top of her game. This song stood out the most to me off of her newest album, Lemonade.  She gets a great addition to this gospel-esque song with The Weeknd.
A modern day reboot of Amy Grant’s 1991 hit “Baby Baby”. Amy Grant adds a modern sound this time around and invites American Idol contestant Tori Kelly to collaborate. The new version adds an R&B rhythm and beat over Kelly’s vocal range, which Grant said impressed her immediately when she saw Kelly sing in the studio. I really enjoy these two together. Well done ladies. By the way if you want to feel old, check out the original version and video from 25 years ago.
Nostalgia at its finest. Being a 90s baby, I grew up on Blink 182. This definitely has 90s roots in it. It may not be the original band members but it will gear the 90s babies for the highly anticipated tour with All Time Low, A Day to Remember and All American Rejects. The lyrics also stand out the most to me. “Life is too short to last long”.blink-182-bored-to-death-comeback-new-single-mark-hoppus-matt-skiba-new-album-california-compressed
This song will be my feel good song of the summer. I enjoy all genres of music but upbeat music in general is my favorite. Ethan Thompson adds another famous producer that he’s done songs with. He’s worked with Ferry Corsten and Fareoh. Can’t wait to hear more of Thompson in the near future.
Drake just released another monumental album (Views) and he’s got another song that the kids are sure to know. The rest of the album is very emotional but “One Dance” will be at the top of the charts for many weeks to come. Currently sitting at Number One on iTunes charts.
Everything Calvin Harris touches turns to gold. It may not have the dance feel like “We Found Love” but it is amazing to hear these two working together again. Get ready to hear this song all summer long.

May is Mother’s Day month and this song always reminds me of my mom.  The song really speaks to you about always being there for someone. Here is my eventual Mother/Son song when I get married (years and years from now). Shout out to my mom Debbie! Happy Mother’s Day!

Always loved this song but this remix delivers a higher energy to it. The build up leads right into an explosive drop. A perfect bridal party intro song!
